Day 42 - Tweaking the Dashboard

By Raj Bariya

What I Learned

Today, I focused on writing paper on the machine learning models we implemented in our project. I learned how to clearly articulate each model’s structure, purpose, and performance in a formal research paper format. This process helped me better understand not only the technical aspects of the models, such as their input features and training methodology, but also how to communicate them effectively to an academic audience. Additionally, I spent time refining our dashboard. I implemented a geospatial heatmap to visually represent delays in US, which made it easier to spot trends in the dataset. I also integrated several other types of charts, including bar graphs, line charts, and pie charts. This helped enhance the dashboard’s ability to provide quick, intuitive insights from our data. I learned how to format and synchronize these charts to work together smoothly within the same interface.

Blockers

I have no blockers today but I still find writing a bit hectic. I almost done writing my part of the paper as well.

Reflection

I’m happy with the progress I made today. Writing the paper gave me a much clearer perspective on the flow of our project and the rationale behind our model selection. It also forced me to think critically about how to justify our decisions with evidence and clear reasoning. The dashboard development was also quite satisfying, adding the heatmap and other charts made the data more dynamic and visually appealing.
